# Manual verification

Manual verification lets an authorized reviewer complete a KYC review from the dashboard when automated checks are not enough on their own.

## Before you start

Make sure all of the following are true:

* the manual verification capability is enabled for your organization
* your user has the **Identity Verification** > **Manual verification** permission through an admin-managed role, as described in [Team roles and permissions](/docs/dashboard/team-roles-and-permissions.md)
* the user already has a verification session in the dashboard

## Open the manual verification flow

1. In the dashboard, open **Users**.
2. Select the user you want to review.
3. If the user has more than one session, choose the correct session.
4. Click **Manual Verification**.

If you do not see the **Manual Verification** button, your account probably does not have the required permission.

## Review the existing evidence

Start by reviewing the information already attached to the session:

* captured document images
* selfie and session details
* extracted document fields
* audit and session history

If the user already submitted a document for a step, the dashboard highlights that so you can decide whether the original evidence is enough or whether you need to upload additional material.

## Upload documents when needed

The manual verification dialog follows the configured verification steps for the flow.

For document-based steps, you can upload supporting files directly in the dashboard. Depending on the step, the workflow may require:

* one document upload
* a front and back upload

After the required file set is uploaded, data extraction starts automatically.

## Review and edit extracted data

Once extraction finishes, the dashboard shows the extracted fields grouped by category, such as:

* personal information
* document details
* address details

If needed, you can edit the extracted values before completing the review.

This is useful when:

* OCR captured the correct field but needs formatting cleanup
* a value is readable in the document image but was extracted incorrectly
* you need the stored extracted data to match the evidence you reviewed

## Approve the session manually

When you are satisfied with the evidence, click **Verify**.

Approving through the manual verification flow:

* marks the session as successfully verified
* records that the session was approved manually
* stores who approved it and when
* keeps the uploaded review material and extracted data available in the session

After approval, the user details page shows that the session was verified manually.

## Audit and traceability

Manual verification is a sensitive action. After you approve a session, review teams can trace:

* the reviewer who approved the session
* the approval timestamp
* the supporting uploaded documents
* the extracted and edited data used during review
* the session audit history

## Operational tips

* Give manual verification access only to trusted reviewers.
* Reuse user-submitted evidence when it is sufficient, and upload extra material only when needed.
* Review extracted data before approval instead of assuming OCR is final.
* Use the correct session tab when a user has multiple verification attempts.
